ATN X-Sight 4K Pro

Night vision scopes pack a surprising amount of tech nowadays. What began as a military-only thing is now something that you can easily buy. Many hunters and wildlife explorers have done just that. There are night vision rifle-mounted scopes that you can get that make night hunting relatively easy, and something you can enjoy. If you’ve done some research, you’ll also find that there are scopes that go way beyond the regular night vision tech. They include features that you may think you don’t need but are actually a pleasure to use.

However, these features often end up costing exorbitant amounts of money. Put that on top of the already-high night vision prices, and you find that not many can actually afford all those features. ATN is a company that breaks that mold and manages to cram just about every optic feature people have been asking for in their X-Sight Pro 4K, without breaking the bank. Sure, it is a bit more expensive than some budget offerings you may find on our list of best night vision scopes, but with all the features, it’s well worth it.

What’s so great about it?

The X-Sight is a smart rifle scope. There are plenty of very high-tech features that can come in handy in a variety of situations, and they make the price very attractive for what you get. However, before we get into all of that, let’s get the basics out of the way.

First of all, you should know that you can get the scope in two configurations. There’s the 5-20x, which we’re discussing here, and there’s a 3-14x option as well. The 5-20x offers a lot of zoom, and with a five degree field of view at 1000 yards, you can see plenty with it. They improved the eye relief from the previous generation, and you now have a clear view and a picture that isn’t distorted in any way. This is actually much better than you may think, as when companies just try to put as much stuff as possible, they often forget about the basics, which isn’t the case here.

It mounts on standard 30mm rings, and the build is weather resistant. This means you don’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain, as the scope won’t be damaged. However, this is more or less where the non-smart features end. This is where the really fun stuff comes in.

All the smart tech

Kicking things of with the sensor, we have a 3864×2218 sensor resolution in the ATN M265 dual core sensor. This results in stunningly crisp images where it’s easy to pick out the details. We mentioned that it’s a zoom scope, and with this sensor, you won’t be seeing any pixelation or degradation of the image while zooming. This is a constant problem with some other scopes, and it’s great that ATN have figured it out.

The sensor also offers dual stream video. There’s an SD card slot, and there is also the option of streaming video to your smartphone in HD. The best thing is that you can do both at the same time. You can easily share your footage with fellow hunters and shooters with ease. That video can be recorded in up to 120 fps, and the stream works with both iOS and Android. If you want to, you can also activate RAV, or recoil activated video, which automatically captures a few seconds before, and after the shot.

Inside you will also find a ballistic calculator and one-shot zeroing. That ballistics calculator is highly advanced and works great. It factors in everything from wind, to range, temperature, target angle and even humidity. There’s the option to set it up for different firearms as well. Seeing as any firearm requires zeroing, you can do it with the X-Sight Pro with just one shot, which is impressive. Sure, many companies boast with one-shot zeroing, but it actually works here.

It doesn’t end there

The ATN X-Sight Pro 4K isn’t just a night vision scope. You can use it during daylight too, and it won’t damage the electronics inside. Switching from daylight to night vision mode happens in an instant, with the push of a single button. There is a range finder built-in, where all you need to do is take two readings of your target, and the scope will both range in, and adjust the reticle’s point of impact.

Battery life is stellar. You don’t get AA or AAA batteries, but there’s a built-in battery instead, and it lasts over 18 hours. That’s longer than you would be out on the field, so you don’t have to worry about it dying on you.

Wrapping things up – is there any reason not to get it?

Actually, no. There are multiple reasons to get it, but not really much against it. Oftentimes, when you try to cram a lot of tech into a rifle scope, you either compromise, or completely neglect on some of the basics. You end up with a scope that can do a lot of great high-tech things, but the night vision is a disaster. This is not the case with the X-Sight Pro 4K. It is a stunning all-round scope, which works wonders both in daylight, and at night.

All of the smart features are great, and even though you might think you don’t need them all, they’re very welcome. Having the ability to record what you’re doing in HD, so you can share it with your friends is great, and all of the extras such as one-shot zeroing, ballistics data, the rangefinder, they’re all things that you’ll learn to appreciate.

When you take everything into consideration, this smart night vision scope is actually smarter than you may think. At that price point, there’s actually not much that beats it in performance and features, and you won’t regret buying it.
