Although TecTecTec is a relatively new player in the golf rangefinder industry, they are intent on quickly building a reputation as a reliable manufacturer of golf distance measuring equipment. Following on the success of the VPRO500{link to the VPRO500 review}, they launched the VPRO DLX, which has gained massive popularity amongst amateur and pro golfers in the short time it has been in the market. The VPRO DLX comes with a couple of new features that make it better than its predecessor, including a fabulous Flag seeker and an extended range that ensure that this device serves more than just measuring yardages. Let’s have a look at what makes the VPRO DLX so impressive.

Immediately you get your hands on the VPRO DLX, you feel that you are holding a premium product. It has a great design and a nice dual-tone color scheme. It comes in at 4.1” x 2.8” x 1.6” and weighs only 0.41 pounds, making it light and portable to carry around, yet at the same time giving it enough weight to make sure it is steady as you shoot your distances. The bottom side of the VRPO DLX is textured to ensure a firm grip, while the top side is fitted with two buttons. The rear button works as the power button. It switches on the laser when you need to get instant measurements to a specific target. The front button is the mode button, which turns on the continuous scan mode when the user wants to quickly get multiple readings. Two button operation makes the device very easy to use.

The VPRO DLX is built with a superior quality waterproof body that ensures peace of mind when the weather turns sour. The case is also shock resistant to protect the device from impact. Under the eyepiece is a loop where a lanyard strap can be inserted for easy carrying. The device also comes with a free premium carrying case, a wrist strap and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

The VPRO DLX takes advantage of the latest rangefinder technology to make a highly accurate and flexible rangefinder. It has three different modes which instill confidence in every situation. The first one, Pinseeker mode, allows the device to single out the flag even when it is among a group of distractions. The Pinseeker on the VPRO DLX is highly sensitive and is perfect for measuring accurate distance among overlapping targets. First Target Priority mode locks on the first target in a group of objects, allowing the user to measure the yardage to the flag when there are wooded greens in the background. The third one, continuous scanning mode continuously updates the distance of different targets as you sweep the rangefinder across the course. This mode is important for checking the distance of hazards.

The VPRO DLX makes use of TecTecTec’s high-tech optics to deliver optimum clarity and accuracy. It has a clear through-the-lens display which is especially useful in continuous scanning mode. It uses a multi-layer coated monocular and a 6x magnification to provide bright, crystal clear images. It has an adjustable diopter which guarantees a clear view in every situation. In case the focus is not clear, it can be adjusted by simply turning the eyepiece till you get a vivid image. Like I mentioned earlier, the VPRO DLX is a long range laser. It can measure yardages of up to 600 yards with a plus or minus 1 yard accuracy and up to 900 yards on reflective targets. This is quite a desirable feature to any golfer.  The VPRO DLX does not come with a Slope function, therefore it can be legally be used in any tournament.

  • It has a nice looking modern design and nice ergonomics which give it a comfortable feel when it is held in the hand.
  • It has a waterproof casing, therefore it can be used in rainy weather without risk of getting damaged.
  • It maintains its accuracy even when measuring object at a long range.
  • The VPRO DLX is very easy to use. Since it is operated using only two buttons, learning to use it should be very quick.
  • Despite its light weight, it feels solid in the hand and is stable and steady when aiming for targets.
  • It has high quality and super clear optics. The multilayer coating on the lens ensures an excellent image quality.
  • It is a stylish and durable option for golfers who don’t want to pay a huge price for a higher end model.
  • It has an auto shut-off feature that switches itself off after a few seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
  • It comes with a rechargeable CR2 lithium ion battery

  • The flag seeker mode is not the default mode and therefore it switches off by itself. This presents a challenge when the player hasn’t gotten a lock on their measurements since they have to keep switching to the mode a number of times.
  • Although it’s fairly cheaper than some other models, it is still possible to find a decent rangefinder at half its price.
  • If you do not have steady hands, locking on the target night present some challenge since any slight movement of the hands while taking measurements can affect overall results.

With the VPRO DLX, TecTecTec built on the success of the VPRO500 to build an even better laser rangefinder. Though they have a number of similarities, the VPRO DLX is a top notch device that has better performance and better aesthetics compared to its predecessor. It offers very accurate readings and a very clear through-the-lens display. The ease of use has also been praised by many satisfied owners. Quite a few times, you will buy a product that doesn’t always perform as promised. However, with the VPRO DLX, everything works as specified by the manufacturer. Though it has a few shortcomings and the price might be a bit on the higher side, the VPRO DLX is an effective laser rangefinder that is highly recommended to golfers who demand optimal performance from their accessories.
