One of the key accessories to the kit of any hunter is the rangefinder. While guessing range can be done by certain experts, most of us are not experienced in taking a guess at the range to make the adjustments. To help combat this issue, modern technology has given us the Wosports Hunting Rangefinder to help estimate accurate ranges.

Rangefinders are plentiful on the market, ranging from excellent rangefinders for hunting to target rangefinders for golf. However, you need to find the one best suited for your needs if you want to have the best chance of making a shot. In this article, we look at the Wosports Hunting Rangefinder and what makes it stand out.

Technical Specifications:

  • Laser rangefinder design for better accuracy
  • Includes a golf mode
  • 650-yard maximum range
  • Includes a scan mode for conditions and temperatures
  • A large display made from LCD
  • Flag lock for golfers
  • 6X magnification
  • Multicoated lenses for better contrast
  • 7-degree field of view
  • Weighs only 9.6-ounces
  • Ergonomic design

The rangefinder is by far one of the hardest accessories you can choose, but it gives you many benefits that your naked eye and scope simply do not. One of the first things you will see with this unit is the comfortable fit in your hands. Much like many rangefinders, the emphasis is placed on making it ergonomic and comfortable.

The unit only weighs 9.8-ounces, which is far less than many other rangefinders with similar features. It is small enough to fit in your pocket when not in use but does not come with a lanyard to carry around your neck. Unfortunately, no lanyard holes are present for you to create your own lanyard and carry it around.

While a range limit is placed on the rangefinder, you can keep in mind that most range finders have a much larger range. However, the 650-yard number is where the rangefinder is the most accurate. This means that your rangefinder will give you precise ranges when used inside 650-yard. The feature is primarily dedicated to golfers.

As a golfer, pin-seeking technology plays a huge role in making sure that you are going in the right direction. This range finder is designed with pin-seeking technology. However, it can only be activated when you are around 150-yards from the flagpole. Before you are close enough, you will need to rely on your own skills.

Moving on to the hunter’s part of the rangefinder, you have 6X magnification to deal with. A 24mm objective lens is a little small for the magnification, but at lower magnifications, it should reduce the distortion for a clear view. A 7-degree field of view is often overlooked, but can still help you to track your targets as needed.

Adding to the outdoor features, you will notice that the unit is rubber-coated. However, the rubber coating is not very thick to make it easy to handle. The benefit of the rubber coating is to make the unit resistant to weather conditions. It might not be fully waterproof but should endure a light drizzle without any issues.

The scan mode is something you will use often when you are outdoors. A small LCD display allows you to see the conditions and the temperatures by scanning with the unit continuously. One of the downsides is that this scan mode can be affected by bad weather, often times the readings might not make sense. It only gets worse if the weather conditions are severe.

A CR2 3-volt battery is used to power the unit. It has a decent battery life that should last you for the majority of the day. Once you are done, the unit can be recharged, saving you the extra costs of constantly having to buy new batteries. When the unit is not being used, it will automatically turn off to help preserve battery life.

The last feature that is actually hidden and you will need to read the manual to find it is the ability to measure speed. If you are a golfer and you want to measure the speed of your swing or the ball, you can activate this mode. The rangefinder can measure the speed of up to 300km/h, making it effective for golfers and those that need to measure speed. We should also mention that it has an accuracy of plus-minus 1-yard.

What We Like:

  • The unit is durable in light weather conditions
  • Affordable
  • Decent accuracy
  • Ideal for hunters and golfers alike
  • Includes a speed measuring feature
  • Lightweight, with an ergonomic feel

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Cannot be used in heavy weather conditions
  • The magnetic carry case is frustrating to use for hunters

Should You Buy It?

Rangefinders vary in quality and features but also means they vary in price. The Wosports Hunting Rangefinder is one of the more affordable options you will find on the market. It has many of the elite features one would find in the top rangefinders. Even with a few flaws, it is still worth buying for hunters and golfers.

When it comes to recommending the unit, it is much better suited for golfers than hunters. Most of the features are specifically included for golf. Since you won’t be using it every day, the value it provides is long-lasting. You should be able to use it for many years of hunting and golfing. We would highly recommend it as the ultimate rangefinder budget buy.

Hunting and golfing don’t have too much in common, but many people that love the outdoors, also love sports like golf. The Wosports Hunting Rangefinder is the definition of killing two birds with one stone. It is a great little compact rangefinder for anyone, whether you are hunting or out golfing.
